The UK’s leading provider of vehicle valuation data and related services. CAP’s data and the ubiquitous CAPCode taxonomy are the industry benchmarks and critical infrastructure in the UK market for transacting and owning vehicles. We acquired the business in May 2012 as a carve-out from the EMAP Group.
A Montagu business
- CAP’s Data and coding are critical for transacting and running vehicles in the UK and increasingly important to support digitisation and efficiency for customers (including for investment BCA)
- Leading position supported high margin and very high recurring revenues
- Motivated management team keen to carve the business out from a more diversified group to unlock its growth potential
Accelerated growth
We supported management in a significant investment programme that drove an inflection in revenue and EBITDA growth. Growth was accelerated by:
- new product launches – expansion from B2B to B2C product areas
- market launches – growing from UK only operations to 3 geographies
- pricing initiatives
- selective acquisitions
In November 2014, CAP was sold to a strategic acquirer, Solera Holdings Inc. The buyer was attracted by the strategic position of the business, its growth, and the revenue synergies with Solera’s other portfolio businesses.
